I've been wanting to make my own coffee scrub for a while now, seeing as I have a coffee machine and an abundance of used coffee grounds. You can use freshly ground coffee too, but I personally would prefer to consume the fresh stuff! I just made sure my used coffee pucks were dried before I crumbled them up ready to make this*. If you're friendly with your local barista I'm sure they would give you some of their wasted coffee grind just from overflow and spillage.
1 cup coffee grounds
1/2 cup coconut sugar
1/4 cup fractionated coconut oil
1/4 cup almond oil
5 drops Wild Orange essential oil
5 drops Lemon essential oil
This is all really customisable as well - you can use just normal melted coconut oil but make it 1/2 a cup, you could use salt instead of sugar, you could do Wild Orange and Peppermint essential oils instead (I almost did that myself but changed my mind at the last minute... semi-regrets!).
You will find this recipe has a lot more liquid than store bought versions, that's normal and also the oil may sit on top but as soon as you mix it up it goes back to normal.
*If you're using used coffee grounds, only make enough to last no more than 1 week as it may go off quicker than freshly ground coffee.
I'm going to hazard a guess and say it cost about $5 to make with ingredients I already had.
